About

Welcome to Spatula in My Pocket!

I’m Noor, the creator, designer, author, photographer, and the chef cum baker behind this food blog.
I’m a college student at NUST Business School, currently doing a business administration major with tentative intent to land in the HR space of work or to open up an underground street food café, for whatever the destiny holds.

Spatula in My Pocket is devoted to foodmy everyday culinary musings, mostly desserts.

You’ll find an array of bright colorful recipes, ranging from cakes and cupcakes to pastas and tacos.

My sister, Mish, came up with the name “Spatula in My Pocket”. It is Mish to whom I am forever indebted to for this blog, my constant supporter and also my harshest critic, I am beyond grateful to her!
For those who don’t know what a spatula is well let me tell you that it’s the most magical kitchenware invented. It’s smooth and bright and cleans off every teeny tiny speck off your bowl. And it comes in such bright colors. Love love love!

I can’t really say for sure when my love for cooking began. It could be when I used to spend hours scouring the cookbooks my sister’s friend gave her or when I and my sister made the orange candy muffins and fried doughnuts back in Multan, 2003. Or it could be when I started making a chocolate cake from a same recipe I got from my khala every Friday, and every time the cake turned out different; dry, moist, flat, very sweet…. But the real love, I think, really kicked in after 10th grade, when we were given of about five months’ worth of holidays. That’s when I started watching this cooking show, Masala Mornings, every morning at 11. I’d sit on the sofa, notebook and pen perched on my lap, ready for the show to begin. The first notebook started getting filled up with recipes. Then another. Then another. Hundreds of recipes printed of the Internet, wads and wads of recipes gathering up. Still hard to keep track of em all. Still so much to try, to cook.

I hope you share in my passion of cooking and baking, and that you like my recipes. Do give them a try and if you do, do share some pictures.
